App Spotlight: Chase Mobile for iPhone

It’s easy – and free* – to download and use Chase Mobile on your iPhone or iPod touch. Chase Mobile lets you bank from anywhere you can access the Web. Pay bills and credit cards, transfer money between Chase accounts, see account balances and transaction history, and send wire transfers. Plus, find nearby Chase branches, ATMs and our contact information.

For now, there are some limitations regarding deposit amounts, with customers only being able to deposit $1,000 per day and $3,000 per week using the application. Still, mobile deposits are quite convenient for quickly depositing personal checks without having to make a trip to the bank. Here’s hoping that more banks will follow suit.

The Little Known Secret to Getting Page 1 Google Rankings – Video!!!

American Express Small Business OPEN forum disscusses a little known secret to getting better Google rankings; Videos!

They explain that Google are increasingly using “blended” search results – articles, video, pictures, and other forms of content. So video inherently gets more play because there is less competition for video results.

Check the article out here.

Below are the meat & potatoes of the article:

1. Create some great video for your site. Note: Research indicates that if you have video on your homepage, up to 80% of your visitors will click that first, so it better be good!

2. Post it prominently throughout your site.

3. SEO it and submit it. Here’s the trick, and it is two-fold. First, you must optimize the video for search engines. That means key words and phrases must be used in the file name, in the captions, etc. Second, once posted on your site, you must then submit the video itself using XML tools to Google and the other search engines.

Wrap up From WordPress Wordcamp NYC 2009!

Last weekend, I was fortunate enough to go to WordPress Wordcamp NYC 2009. It was awesome! It really gave me a greater appreciation for the utility and definitely more of an understanding of where it is going. See some of the scenery, useful websites, music (yes, music),  and reoccurring quotes of the conference below…

The Reoccurring points for WordPress Users:

– “When deciding to build a site, its always better to go with CMS over Static…”

– “Wordpress is like the swiss army knife of the web”

– “Wordpress is 508 compliant” (accessible to people with disabilities.)

– “Aways Always Always back up your database! (But you already knew that…)”

The Iphone App Market

app-store-icon

As an Iphone user, I am definitely excited about the next software upgrade being released this summer. Those who are Iphone app developers are excited as well, but for more reasons then better phone functionality. It can lead to their next big payday. With the new software being released (and possibly new phone?), this will bring a lot of new people to the Iphone world, which will lead to more people buying Apps. Apple seemingly created more than just a phone with the Iphone, but potentially a mini industry. The app market is definitely attractive and certainly lucrative. The developer for the game Ishoot made $800,000 in five months with his app. The developer for Isteam made $100,000 in three months with his. Currently there are over 25,000 in the Istore, and those numbers are rising fast. With this said, this might be a good time to try your hand at some Iphone Apple programming and get your hand in the cookie jar as well. We at UtterJargon even decided to take a gander at the Apple programming language Objective C. We gathered up some basic PDF tutorials and have decided to zip the info up for you to gander at as well….

“Not a Bad Time for Small Businesses to Raise Prices”

Bad Ecomony

I came across an interesting article in the New York Times. Although we are in a slowing economy, you do not have to resort to slashing prices and budgets all across the board. For instance, increasing your marketing budget while your local competitors decrease theirs can potentially increase your market share. The article also showcases other product pricing strategies that can prove successful amidst the dismal financial times.
